When I was stateside, I compared the temperature, humidity, heat index, and more to learn the differences of a climate. Notably, I didn’t have a frame of reference until I arrived in Mérida to know the difference. Of course, in Centro, it is hotter with all the concrete and limited airflow. And, while there are ways to beat the heat, you’ll learn more tips and tricks once you are here.
If you’ve read any of my other articles on Life in Mérida, you know that one of the things I hate most is the heat (the other thing is mosquitoes). I didn’t understand why it felt so much hotter here. Once I started doing some research (thank you, Google), I finally realized it is because Mérida is close to the Tropic of Cancer.
So, what exactly does that mean? The sun is more intense. The concrete in Centro contributes to the heat. There are ways to stay cool including a pool. This, for me, is a MUST!
