Whether you are a history buff, foodie, lover of the arts, hand-made crafts collector, or looking for a relaxing vacation experience, Mérida has it all. As the capital of the state of Yucatán, it serves as an important city attracting a wide variety of people from all walks of life. While Mexico has suffered negative news, many people move to and visit Mérida regularly. Yes, at first, Mérida will seem complicated to navigate; however, once you understand how the streets run and the layout of the diverse and different neighborhoods called colonias, you’ll gain more confidence over time.

Learn about neighborhoods in Centro, North and Suburbs including history, little known facts, and areas to avoid. Part of the charm of Mérida lies in its neighborhoods so enjoy the journey!

Surprisingly, there are more than 100 places of interest of which 60 are included on this itinerary. Your tour for Calle 60 begins at Plaza Grande, the heartbeat of Merida. Then, we’ll head north for art galleries, shopping, gastronomic destinations, and more. You’ll learn the fascinating history of the longest street in Mérida.

I recommend taking a few days to explore and enjoy the variety of colors, sounds, smells, tastes, and sights. We’ve included only a portion of what you can do and see – things of significant interest, our choices for gastronomic destinations, and historical anecdotes.

Uber is not available at the airport. Please do not attempt to exit the airport and walk down the sidewalk to the street so you can take an Uber, especially if it’s late afternoon or evening. This can result in a ticket for both you and the Uber driver. While you can save a few dollars, it may cost you more in the end. Airport transfers include a complimentary copy of the Learn About Mérida Guide ($12 value).

We offer airport transfers from Mérida International Airport to the following:

*We do not travel to these areas after 7:00 p.m. due to dark roads.

“Only 10% of the people who offer real estate services in Yucatan have the capacity, training, professionalism, certification, and recognition to advise the public on real estate investment,” said Enrique Trava Griffin, 2023/2024 local president of the Mexican Association of Real Estate Professionals (AMPI). According to Trava Griffin, 174 AMPI-certified real estate companies have about 550 professionals practicing in the real estate sector. In contrast, over 5,000 people offer various real estate services without fiscal accreditation. Therefore, it’s imperative to choose a trustworthy real estate professional.

Understanding the real estate market for budgeting purposes is critical. It’s important to know the pricing whether you want to rent or buy. We’ve created a half-day and a full-day for real estate consultations and tours. This no-commitment process helps give you a feel for the real estate market and the valuable services, follow-up, and client care we provide.

Driving in Mérida can be both exhilarating and terrifying, especially if you’re used to the rules and guidelines of driving in your home country. For example, many laws here differ regarding traffic regulations, road conditions, and cultural norms. Therefore, if you plan to rent a car or drive your vehicle, you must be aware of some of the critical differences you may encounter. You can drive in Mexico with a driver’s license from another country if it is still valid. You may be subject to a ticket if you get pulled over with an expired license. If you’re renting a car, you MUST have a current driver’s license.

Just like any foreign country, there are driving differences. In Mérida it’s no different. The vast number of pedestrians, motorcycles, delivery drivers, buses, bicycles, and tourists can be a bit overwhelming. You’ll use a KIA Sedona minivan OR your own vehicle OR we can arrange a smaller vehicle through our rental partner, Mayan Drive, pending availability for an additional charge. The lesson covers city orientation, one-way streets, signage, roundabouts (gloriettas), rules, what to do if a ticket is issued, and much, much more. You’ll also receive the Mérida Driving Guide ($5 value).

  • Per Hour:  $50
  • If additional time is needed, it can be paid in cash during the lesson at the rate of $250 pesos per 15 minutes.

If you have not registered your CURRENT address with INM, you MUST do this FIRST before applying for a driver’s license. Angel will meet you in advance to ensure you have all the information needed for this process. We have a printer if you need copies or anything printed from the internet at no additional charge. Fee does NOT include government fees paid separately. Please Note: This is a 3-day process. Consecutive days may not be possible. However, we do our best to ensure the most efficient schedule we can.

This comprehensive guide covers both work opportunities and starting your own business. You’ll need to determine the best strategy and tax implications. Whether you decide to work remotely, for a local company, or start your own business, this guide provides valuable resources. I’ve also given you my personal business plan template, an integral part of starting a business. Visa and immigration requirements, language barriers, and differences in the workplace culture present the majority of challenges. Despite the information you may find online, it can be difficult to obtain work and the pay may not support your lifestyle. If living in Mérida is based on finding employment after you arrive, this guide will help you determine if working in Mérida works for you. Guide includes business plan template.

This is definitely NOT your regular packing list. Mérida is VERY different from other destinations in Mexico and that’s a good thing . . .

  • 14 practical & purposeful items
  • 2 – 3 items on this list might surprise you
  • Plan your every day carry to be prepared
  • You’ll have access to my private page of recommended products.
  • SAVE time, money, and frustration!

Creating a narrative of your life is challenging partly because you’re still living it. Yet, the thought of writing your story is so powerful that you can’t stop thinking about it. I created this course specifically to help you write your story including practical advice about self-publishing.

  • Learn how to methodically approach the story of your life.
  • Receive tools, worksheets and prompts to help you write, heal and transform.
  • Unlock information that has resisted being told.

The information contained in this publication came about due to the feedback, observations, & information I gathered while speaking to over 1,000 people on the topic “Getting Rid of Possessions, It’s Harder Than You Think”. This program was created specifically for Senior Access/Generations Group at Methodist Health Systems in Dallas, Texas.

During this series, there were some common threads:
#1 Being organizing means something different to everyone.
#2 Clutter means something different to everyone.
#3 People will justify keeping almost anything if it has sentimental or perceived value.
#4 Higher value is typically placed on items that have a high level of emotional attachment.
#5 People tend to keep things out of guilt or obligation.
