Amy Jones in Merida Mexico Mistakes I Made After Moving to Mérida
Amy Jones of Life in Merida

Life Phase 1

At 54, I’ve done everything . . . well, almost everything! I have always lived a life of no regrets. I never want to look back at my life & think, “What if . . .” or “I should have . . . “

My intuition has been a very good guide in directing my journey & I’m grateful for that.

I’ve been an entrepreneur since the age of 12 when I started selling handmade items on the town square in my small home town of Slaton, Texas.

Fashion was my passion so I opened a dress & accessory boutique when I was 17. It was one of my first loves.

Additionally, it was natural to study fashion design at Texas Tech University. After graduation, I moved to London & worked at Harrod’s, the world-famous department store.

Life Phase 2

Next, I moved to Austin, Texas after my time in London & worked at Texas Commission on the Arts & the Fulbright & Jaworski law firm.

After a year in Austin, I followed my college roommates to Dallas where I worked for a men’s clothing manufacturing firm. At this time, I began a new chapter in life by getting married & having 2 sons.

Subsequently, I had a very successful career in residential & international real estate. For the next 12 years, I sold real estate & traveled the world.

During that time, I also had the opportunity to live in the Riviera Maya & sell golf course lots at Bahia Principe

After 14 years of marriage, I decided being married and a career in real estate weren’t for me.

Life Phase 3

I started over & began a catering, organizing, packing, moving & staging business for realtors & their clients.

After my 2 sons had lives of their own, it was time for me again. I was ready to make the move to Mérida & to create a new life for myself. I’ve had so much fun with Life in Mérida.

Now, with the addition of Mérida Retirement Tours, I’ve fully embraced ALL of my passions – writing, traveling, helping others, exploring local culture, & sharing the love I have for people & this wonderful city!

I look forward to meeting you in Mérida! For my complete story, click HERE
